• The trend estimate of the value of total building work done was flat for the March 2008 quarter.
• The seasonally adjusted March quarter estimate of the value of total building work done fell 1.0%, to $16,483.5m, on the revised December 2007 quarter estimate.

• The trend estimate of the value of new residential building work fell 0.1% in the latest quarter, with new houses rising 0.2% and new other residential building falling 0.9%. Alterations and additions to residential building rose 0.7%.
• The seasonally adjusted estimate of the value of new residential work done fell 0.3%, to $8,190.8m. Work done on new houses was flat at $5,813.0m, while new other residential building fell 1.0%, to $2,377.8m. Alterations and additions fell 1.1%, to $1,577.5m.

• The trend estimate of the value of non-residential building work done in the quarter fell 0.2% on the revised December quarter estimate.
• The seasonally adjusted estimate of the value of non-residential building work done in the quarter fell 1.9%, to $6,715.2m, on the revised December quarter estimate.
